Jim Stigliano
Licensed Massage Therapist  (Ellicott location only)
I graduated from the Baltimore School of Massage in 2002 and began practicing massage therapy at the Baltimore Center for Wellness in Ellicott City and at Destination Relaxation at Baltimore Washington International Airport.  While attending massage school I worked full time in computer programming, looking forward to my evening classes and enjoying them thoroughly - they were a wonderful change from my day job! Retiring officially from computer work in 2002 (after 30 years in the computer field), I began my second career in massage therapy and haven’t looked back since.

Massage work for me is a way of serving, focusing completely on the needs of my clients and tailoring the massage to their needs using the various modalities that I have learned. Based on a solid knowledge of anatomy and the techniques of Swedish massage, Deep Tissue massage, Myofascial massage, Tonus Therapy, Reiki, and Energy work, each client is approached in a unique and individual way.  I thoroughly enjoy my work and receive back as much as is given.

A typical session begins with a conversation to identify the issues that need to be addressed followed by gentle holds and stretches. The next step is Swedish massage to warm the body and facilitate relaxation.  After the body is warmed and relaxed, deep tissue techniques are used to relieve any muscle tension and knots.  Usually Swedish and Deep Tissue are alternated throughout the massage to bring about greater calm and relaxation.  If you are open to Reiki and Energy Work, they can be included in the massage as well.  The massage is ended with gentle long strokes to tie the body together, and more gentle holds and stretches.

The massage takes place in a very relaxing environment with meditative music playing and aromatherapy candles scenting the room. A hypo-   allergenic massage gel is used that soothes and softens the skin and is light and non-greasy.  My goal is to create an environment that allows and encourages you to relax and let go of stress and tension and become renewed and refreshed. I look forward to working with you.

Please note: Mr. Stigliano is available at the Ellicott City office only.

Devon Casey
Licensed Massage Therapist (Frederick location only)
At a young age I took an interest in dance, yoga and nature. Participating in any of these activities is what made me feel present, whole and at peace with myself.

After living my childhood in Maryland I moved to Arizona for seven years. There I majored in Therapeutic use of the Wilderness and minored in dance and movement. My major included studies in counseling, womans wisdom, shamanism, transpersonal psychology, and hard and soft skills in outdoor education.  My minor included studies in authentic movement, holistic health, life centering and meditation, Butoh, yoga psychology, dance and transformation and several dance performances. My final thesis incorporated both skills of nature and dance by fascilitating groups and individual people through rites of passage in wilderness and urban settings.

Throughout my life I have worked with various populations including children born with addiction, women in transition, an assistant to persons who were paralyzed and youth at risk and their families in outdoor and crisis shelter settings. My role has been in direct care, management and coordinator positions. In each of these experiences my desire was to find a way to assist people in connecting with themselves and experiencing peace. I have witnessed that when people have this peace and feel good about themselves they have a natural desire to take care of themselves and those around them.

After being hit by a car walking across a street twelve years ago dance, yoga, rock climbing and hiking became a physical challenge. During this time I found my first chiropractor, massage therapist and reiki master. I had once again found a way to take care of myself and experience a full hour of peace.

In 2004 I moved back to Maryland and graduated from the Baltimore school of Massage in 2005. There I studied Swedish, Deep tissue, and Myofacial release. Since then I have learned hot stone massage, become a reiki master, and have trained in various other energy and massage modalities. Inspired by my children I am also currently training to be a children’s yoga teacher.

When you receive a massage from me it is about you. Every session will be unique to what your needs are in that moment. Together we will customize your session that may include any modality. I offer seven years experience in massage and over twelve years experience in healing modalities. Whether your session is about chronic pain, preventative care or stress release you will receive compassionate care and attentive awareness so that you can be reminded of what it feels like to care for yourself and move forward into well being.

Thai Massage, also sometimes referred to as Thai Yoga Massage, is a system of point pressure and stretching which is performed completely clothed on a mat on the floor. Although this style of bodywork stretches back for more than 1000 years and is influenced by Asian and Ayurvedic traditions, it is a unique style which has transcended centuries and is becoming increasingly popular in western cultures for its relevance in handling the high demands that we place on our bodies. The client can expect a release of stress and tension, increased range of motion, and enhanced strength and flexibility by incorporating Thai massage into their regular routine of well-being. The Center for Holistic Wellness is pleased to offer clients a full body Thai Massage session (90-100 minutes). Please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing (long pants are recommended and please remove jewlery prior to your massage).

Fertility Massage is a specific massage technique created by Claire Marie Miller, Massage Hall of Fame inductee who has devoted her career to the well being of her clients through her passion for pregnancy, fertility, labor, postpartum, and infant/child massage through her foundational course Nurturing the Mother. What sets this particular massage apart is that certain specific massage techniques are used that have been found to be particularly therapeutic for women who may be struggling in their fertility journey. By focusing on healthy digestion, meditative breathing techniques, Integrative Reflexology focusing on the foot reflex points directly afftecting healthy fertility function, pelvic massage to reduce adhesions in the hips and pelvis, as well as Shiatsu points and cranio-sacral holds to encourage deep relaxation all combine to assist in creating a balanced body, mind, and spirit to support a woman's health for successful conception. This massage is ideal for any woman who is contemplating natural conception, women who have been actively attempting to conceive, as well as women who may be directed by their doctor to consider assisted means of reproduction (IUI, IVF). The ideal time to schedule your Fertility Massage is at ovulation, and should not be performed during menstruation or if you may already be pregnant.
